Pat Pruitt asked
I have a collection of Hummels and plates that my Mother brought over from Germany when she came to the states in 1955.
What would be the best way for me to find out their value?
There are a few options you have for finding out the prices of Hummels and most antiques and collectibles in general. For the Hummel items, you can check out our free Hummels Figurines and Collectible Value Guide, it covers some of the more commonly requested pieces values. If what you have does not appear in the article, you may want to consider purchasing our Complete Hummel Value Guide – eBook which is a more in depth value guide covering every Hummel product that has been produced to date.
Alternatively you can try finding comparable prices on sites like rudylane.com or ebay. Be mindful that not all piece will sell for their advertised priced, with most selling for much less then what is being shown.
A Google search has listed several auction houses in your area, some of these auction houses will focus on items, property or even both. If you choose to contact these auction houses, verify what sort of services they cover, before requesting a valuation. By giving them the identification details of your pieces with supporting photos, you can provide you with an estimated fair market value.
We hope that this helps you to find the information you are looking for.
